Holds the status of an official language in Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with Croatian and Serbian. In linguistic literature it is classified as one of the four standard forms of Serbo-Croatian languages. Bosnians are natural speakers of several dialects, but because of linguistic assimilation, acculturation and migration, it is difficult to determine the exact number of speakers and the distribution of its various dialects. It is estimated that Bosnian is spoken by about 2 million people in the world.
