It comes in two legitimised standards: Brazilian and European. Portuguese has a significant number of words of Arabic origin. It makes part of the Roman languages and it is spoken by more than 250 million people. Portuguese is an official language in 10 countries, consisting of Portugal, Brazil, Mozambique, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Macau, Cape Verde and São Tomé and Príncipe.
